Purely volunteer run, National Flash Fiction day is a highlight of the flash fiction world. In the UK we have Flash Flood, swiftly followed by The Write-In.
I’m exceptionally fond of the NFFD because they were practically the first to publish my writing, in their 2022 anthology (see below). I also had a piece in the Flash Flood 2023 and The Write-In 2023 (the latter got a Pushcart nomination which meant everything given I am a massive fan of the writing of everyone on the team).
2024 – entered an old story but it didn’t get chosen. Didnt pay much attention to the Flood 2024 as was busy with other things (house move, mid-life crisis, all that stuff) and so not writing or reading much at all.
2025 – threw myself into it with no armbands. Here’s my Flash Flood story, And on the Seventh Day She Rose Again and here are my Write-In stories (two reprints and a previously unpublished one)
Angel Wings, boxed. As new (from the NFFD anthology 2022)
Isaac Newton saw an Apple Fall (previously shortlisted at Retreat West)
Cocktails at the end of the world hotel (previously unpublished)
Lost and Found (previously unpublished)
