Well, that was a year etc. I mean, it was though, wasn’t it?
We jangled our bells at 6pm*, I’m a glass of champagne down, the kids had some too for the first time. Can you hear that clock, tick tick ticking faster and faster?
I can honestly say this is the first day it has occurred to me that there are some things I might not do before I die. There’s loads of stuff I haven’t done, of course, but up until now I’ve added a yet to the end of that sentence. Tonight it seems to have left.
COVID made my world smaller, but I was one of the lucky ones who didn’t really notice. Even when the virus finally manifested here it was only an inconvenience.
Brexit seemed theoretical until today, when they finally reached an agreement that I expect will be ratified by our Government next week. Now my ability to access the rest of world feels even smaller.
Ah, I hope I have not already seen the best of times.
I’ve not had a bucket list before, in my arrogance that my options were still limitless. I’m going to write one tonight. New Orleans, Aurora Borealis (http://auroraborealisobservatory.com), a set of short stories with my name on them.
More champagne (not for the children) and here’s to the future.
*social media said jangle some bells, to make us feel like we are all together. Was it just a UK thing? We only had some tiny ones, off the Christmas tree. But we were there. We jangled.
